I just realized that there were many other great things that happened this summer and I have failed to record them. I am using this form of record now entirely and have quit writing in a journal, so I should catch up on our happenings. After our reunion in Logan, we went with our stake youth on a pioneer trek. This is the second trek that I have had the opportunity of attending and it was a totally different experience. Maybe it was because we were merely observing and not active participants in a trek family, but I felt the youth on this trek were extraordinary in every way. They participated without complaint in all of the activities, didn't complain about the hike or the trail (which was very difficult), and seemed to be touched and strengthened by the experience.
After the trek we came home, prepared and went back to the ranch for the Bradley Johnson family reunion. We stayed at the ranch together for 3 days and had a terrific time, even though none of our kids or grandkids could be there. We enjoyed spending time together with Scott's family and watching the kids interact and have fun. We canoed, had an "amazing race", lots and lots of great food, outdoor movie, games, had a course in gun safety from Casey, shot guns, and the girls relaxed with a "redneck pedicure". There's nothing like family reunions and I am sure thankful for families and the strength we are to each other.
The next week Dan and Tarah had a 2 week break from his rotations and they came home to Aurora, but only to drop off Kember and Caden while they took a break from kids and routine and went on a little get away to California. We had a great time with Kember and Caden and took them with us to Wayne County (Capital Reef) to the Summer Cattlemen's Convetion. We stayed in a motel in Torey and thanks to Gayle, my wonderful mother-in-law, I survived 2 little kids in a motel room. They were angels and we had a great time! We had fun at home in Aurora by visiting Aurora park, swimming in the cattle trough on our back porch, swinging on Grandma's swings, and playing on the tractors. Kember's favorite thing was going out to the garden and pulling up the carrots and eating them raw out of the ground. She also liked the fresh peas and the raspberries. Caden wanted no such thing , but he sure loved the teeter-totter and giggled all the way up and down. We have never had him around without his Mom and so it was fun getting to know him and his personality better.
What a great summer to remember!

I still can't believe you had both my kids in one hotel room and everyone slept. What did you do that I need to know? Thanks again for the break, it was very much appreciated! Hope school is going well for you!
Some of my best childhood memories are at grandma's house. I'll bet that Kember and Caden think the same thing after their visit! How's life at NSHS. Sure miss seeing you each day.
